Our Philosophy

Over the years, I've traveled the world in search of the perfect cut of beef - throughout North and South America, Africa and Asia. Maybe the search was some primal urge as an American, with the archetype of the wandering cowboy in our heritage, or possibly it was just an excuse to go to far away lands and eat great food. Either way, my travels eventually led me to Uruguay with two dear friends of mine, one a Uruguayan native.

We spent a month traveling the country, spending time out on the land, visiting the family's estancias, riding horses, cooking out in the open under the stars. The result: an undying love affair with the country, its people, their way of life, and their philosophy of ranching.

My curiosity about Uruguay and ranching became a passion for involvement and a dream come true - I learned the business, bought cattle, acquired land, horses, equipment, and the responsibility that comes with operating a full-time ranch. I also wanted to share my passion for the Uruguayan way of life with others, and so Uruguay Steaks was born.

My goal for Uruguay Steaks is two-fold: First, to bring you the very best steak that I can. All-natural, grass-fed, truly free-range, full of health benefits and bursting with flavor. The second: to bring you a bit of the hospitality and cultural richness that is Uruguay.
