FAQ
What's the difference between grain-fed and grass-fed beef?

Grass-fed beef is lower in fat, calories and cholesterol than grain fed beef. It's also higher in Omega-3 fatty acids, which are vital in protecting the body against diseases such as type II diabetes, heart disease, and arthritis.

Grass-fed beef is also raised in an environment that's as close to nature as possible. The cattle feed on grass, just as they would if they were left to their own devices, rather than feed filled with antibiotics, hormones, and by-products. Grass-fed, free-range cattle are better for the environment, too, since the waste management problems that occur in feedlots do not occur when cattle are unconfined.

How does lean beef taste?

One word: amazing. Grass-fed beef, although leaner, is more tender and has a more robust flavor than beef raised on a feedlot. Some people even say that what little fat there is tastes different – better¬ – than grain-fed beef. We, of course, suggest you try it for yourself!

Are Uruguay's food safety standards the same as the U.S.?

Yes. Uruguay's facilities meet the same requirements as facilities in the United States, and they are often inspected by the USDA. Uruguay has worked hard to produce its brand of super premium beef. The "Certified Natural Meat Program of Uruguay" was created in 2001 to help ensure food safety, environmental sustainability, and animal welfare. The program requires that all cattle can be fully traced from ranch to harvest and packaging, that they are hormone and antibiotic-free, and are raised in a natural, unconfined environment. The program is USDA Process Verified, which means that it adheres to the USDA requirements for meat quality, animal handling and source verification.

Why can't I order T-bone steak?

The USDA does not allow the importation of any meat cuts that include the bone. Bone-in cuts include t-bone steaks, porterhouse steaks, bone-in prime rib and short ribs.
